About us

The Institute of Computational and Modeling Science (ICMS) was started in 2016 to foster the development of interdisciplinary programs and research in computational sciences and engineering, mathematical modeling, applied mathematics, and software engineering at the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU). We support a variety research centers and institutes in Taiwan and worldwide and offer M.S. degrees in Applied Mathematics and Computational Science and Engineering. The interdisciplinary programs at ICMS will involve faculty representing academic departments in the Colleges of Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Life Sciences.

We offer a wide range of courses in Computational Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Information Engineering, Computational Engineering, Computational Physics, Computational Chemistry and Computational Biology, from which students can choose according to their interests and expertise for interdisciplinary research. Computational science is a rapidly growing multidiscipline field that uses mathematical models to solve a variety of scientific, engineering, economic or other complex systems by means of  high-performance software and high-speed computers. Experiment, theory, and computation have become three indispensable and correlated tools in modern science and engineering.
